This jacket (known in period as a waistcoat) is based on Dutch genre paintings from the mid-seventeenth century. The key inspiration is Netscher's Lacemaker. It is made of russet - an undyed woolen cloth - and is lined with linen. It is worn over my yellow kirtle. More information on the inspiration and construction is available here. Note that this jacket, as is, is not really suitable for Kentwell, as it is based on seventeenth-century dutch sources, and is thus too late and too foreign for the manor.
